Int’l Rating Chess: Zia, Uten share top slot

GM Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh Navy and Uten are jointly leading the Prime Bank 18th International Rating Chess Tournament securing full five points after the 5th round matches at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Sunday.IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Golden SC and Enayet Hossain of Hasan Memorial CC shared the 2nd position collecting 4.5 points each.Eleven players shared the 3rd slot with 4 points each. They are: FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, Shawkat Hossain Pollab (Sheikh Russel CC), CM Sohel Chowdhury (Sheikh Russel Memorial SC), WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin (Bangladesh Navy), Masum Hossain (Fire-Service), Sherajul Kabir (Saif Powertek), Gias Uddin Mithu (Agrani Bank), Mokaddesur Rahman Khan Sohan, Anata Choudhury and Shahnaz Mohammad Faruque (Pritom-Prism CC) and Amdadul Kabir Chowdhury.In the day’s 5th round matches, Zia beat Sohel, Uten beat Emon, Enayet drew with Pollab, Shakil beat Alimul Haque Kazal, Mithu beat FM Fahad Rahman, Matiur Rahman Mamun drew with Mohammad Zakaria, Shirin beat Mukitul Islam Ripon, Masum beat Khondakar Nazre Mowla, Shawkat Bin Osman Shawon drew with Zoar Haque Pradhan, Sherajul beat Gour Sundar Biswas, Sohan beat Mujibur Rahman, Anata beat Hanif Mollah, Shahnaz beat Amir Hossain and Amdadul beat Moniruzzaman Masud.The 6th round matches will be held on Monday from 3:00 pm at same venue.(UNB)
