President Abdul Hamid on Thursday urged all concerned to introduce scout movement in all the educational institutions so that the young generation can build a golden Bangla through making them self-reliant and an educated nation.
“I urge all concern to take all-out efforts to introduce scout movement in all the educational institutions across the country so that the children can build golden Bangla by making them self-reliant and an educated nation,” he said. The President, also the chief scout of the country, was inaugurating the 42nd Annual Meeting of the National Council of Bangladesh Scouts at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city. Abdul Hamid underscored the need for building the young generation properly with a view to reaching the outcome of the country’s independence everywhere. “Scouting would be an ideal platform in this regard. I urge all concern to bring the youth community under scout movement to a great extent,” he said, adding, “I’m happy to know that the number of scouts is increasing but it’s not satisfactory comparing the population of the country.” The President asked authorities concerned to involve youths in the ongoing global dynamic trend of information technology for building digital Bangladesh. He lauded the activities of scouts in various fields like disaster management, especially their involvement in rescue operation and body management in the Rana Plaza collapse. At the programme, 10 scouts were awarded Silver Tiger while seven other Silver Hilsha for their outstanding contribution to the scout movement. Bangladesh Scouts President Abdul Karim, chief national commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts Abdul Kalam Azad and advisor of Bangladesh Scouts Mohammad Abu Hena also spoke at the function. – UNB
