Inu calls Odhikar bough of Jamaat-Hefazat

DHAKA: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Monday  said Odhikar used to work for Jamaat-Hefazat as a bough, wearing a non-partisan musk.
The information minister came up with the observation while addressing a press conference organised by the Information Ministry at the Press Information Department (PID)  auditorium.
Inu said, “Odhikar is devoted to BNP-Jamaat alliance and had ill motives against the Awami League led grand-alliance. They remarked arrest of ‘Amar Desh’ editor Mahmudur Rahaman as a violence of human rights but never uttered a single word against arrests of bloggers.”
He also talked about Odhikar’s report on May 5 police drive against Hifazat-e-Islam activists in Motijheel.
Terming the report as falsified, he said, “Odhikar’s report used a Photoshop edited image in its cover and it could trigger intense communal and political violence’s throughout the country.”
He said, “Adilur was arrested on charges of violation of Bangladesh’s existing laws.”
On Saturday night, Adilur Rahman Khan, secretary of Odhikar was arrested for allegedly misrepresenting facts about the May 5 incident. Government sources said he was also a close associate of Amar Desh Acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman. – banglanews24.com
