iPhone 6 with 1704 x 960 Pixel Screen in Testing

The iPhone 6 is expected to sport a larger 4.7 or 5.5-inch display, but not much has been said about its potential resolution–until now. According to a new report, Apple is currently testing a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 with a 1704 x 960 resolution screen, a significant increase from the iPhone 5s’ 4-inch, 1136 x 640 panel. That would push the handset’s pixel density up to an impressive 416 pixels per inch.

The report, which comes from 9to5Mac, says that the 4.7-inch handset is only one of several testbeds that Apple is currently using. This information does match up with the 16:9 screen ratio Cupertino has stuck with since the original iPhone.

With its larger, higher resolution display, the iPhone 6 would not only offer sharper images and videos, there would be more apps on your home screen. iPhone 6 owners would also be able to see more of websites and more messages in the mail app without having to scroll down.
