Iqbal Sobhan calls for more women participation

Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury today called for increasing participation of women in policymaking activities of the government to raise their empowerment.”The dignity of women in a society reveals what progress the society has achieved. In this regard, we are in backward. Though participation of women has increased in different challenging professions, their participation in policymaking activities is very poor till now,” he said.The PM’s adviser was addressing the inaugural session of a two-day workshop for working journalists at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) here.With PIB Director General Mohammad Shah Alamgir in the chair, it was addressed by ActionAid Bangladesh chairperson M Hafizuddin Khan and its director Dr Shahnaz Arefin, among others.
He urged the media to work together with the government for economic and political empowerment of women in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
