Jamaat calls 8-hr countrywide hartal for Monday

Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will enforce an eight-hour countrywide hartal on Monday protesting what it called the ‘planned killing’ of its leader Mir Quasem Ali for war crimes.
The shutdown will begin at 6 am and end at 2 pm. UNB News Agency Reported.
Jamaat called the hartal soon after the execution of Mir Quasem Ali through a statement issued by Jamaat acting secretary general Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday night.
Mir Quasem Ali, believed to be the main financer of anti-liberation party Jamaat-e-Islami, was hanged on Saturday night for the atrocious crimes he had committed against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971 to prevent Bangladesh’s independence.
Earlier, on Wednesday Jamaat enforced a daylong hartal protesting the Supreme Court order upholding its leader Mir Quasem Ali’s death penalty.
