Jamaatmen-cops clash in Meherpur, 10 crackers explode in Laxmipur

At least 50 people, including 10 policemen, were injured as hartal supporters clashed with cops at Garadob bazar in sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.
Police Super Mofazzel Hossain said the clash broke out when police tried to disperse a procession brought out by Jamaat-Shibir activists.
Jamaat-Shibir men hurled brickbats at the law enforcers while police fired 47 rounds of bullet and lobbed 13 round tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
Gangni thana officer-in-charge Masudul Alam was among the injured.
Police arrested four people, including two suspected Shibir activists, from the spot.
The prickets also blocked roads at Bandar, Baradi Bazar, Razanagar in sadar uapzila, Monakhali bazaar road in Mujibnagar upazila, Meherpur-Kushtia road and Kathuli road by burning tyres and putting logs.
Jamaat activists exploded 10 crude bombs and brought out processions at different places in the district Tuesday in support of Jamaat’s 48-hour countrywide shutdown.
The pro-hartal activists blocked Laxmipur-Ramgati road at 7 am today by putting logs on the road and exploded 10 crude bombs.
Meanwhile, police dispersed processions brought out by Jamaat-Shibir activists at Kazipara and Satar para in Ramganj town in the morning.
Jamaat-Shibir men also brought out processions at BISIC industrial area, Jaksin, Mandari Chandraganj and Dalal Bazar in the district town in support of hartal. – UNB
