I had no idea that air fare also increases like bus fares as in our country during special occasions like Eid. But the increase in Jet Airways Kolkata-Dhaka fare was exceptionally high.
Well, last week I went to India for review and re-assessment of my ailing younger sister’s spine problem. When I went to Jet Airways office at Park Street, Kolkata to purchase two Kolkata-Dhaka tickets, the lady at the counter informed me that there was no seat in the flights till 28. However, three seats were there for 29th but each seat would cost INR 25000 plus. The normal fare we paid to Jet Airways for Dhaka-Kolkata was INR 5000 plus. When I asked for the reason she said it’s too rush!
I think it might be due to the Holi festival or the ICC World T20. Meanwhile we were lucky enough to get two tickets at normal fare to return to Dhaka by our national airlines Biman Bangladesh. BB takes good care of its passengers but I don’t know why they cannot maintain schedule, most flights are normally delayed. As usual, it took a long for the wheel chair (on payment) to reach but excuse was genuine – the Rain, it was raining!
