Robbers looted gold ornaments worth about Tk 30 lakhs from a jewellery shop on the broad daylight in the city’s Demra area on Friday.Contacted, officer-in-charge of Demra Police Station SM Kawsar Ahmed said a group of 7-8 dacoits stormed into ‘Keya Jewellery Shop’ at Manu Mollah Shopping Complex at Sarolia around 1:3opm.
The thugs took the employees of the shop hostage at gun point and looted about 70 to 80 tolas of gold ornaments
They also bet up the shop employees as they tried to resist them.
Later, the gangsters decamped with the booty safely as most of shops of the shopping mall were shut during the Juma prayers, the OC said.
