Joint forces shoot dead Shibir-man in Satkhira clash

Satkhira – An activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, was killed in a firing by joint forces during a clash at Padmashakra village in sadar upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Shibir activist Chhoton, 16, a Dhakil (Class-X) student of a local madrasa, and son of Shahor Ali of the village.Satkhira Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Enamul Haque said a team of joint forces, comprising members of Rapid Action Battalion, police and Border Guard of Bangladesh, conducted a regular drive at the village around 7:30am to arrest accused in different cases.
At one stage, local activists of Shibir put up barricade on a road by placing logs and started hurling brickbats and crude bombs at the joint force members triggering a fierce clash.
The joint force members fired shots at the unruly Shibir activists to bring the situation under control, leaving Chhoton bullet-wounded.
Critically injured Chhoton was rushed to the district hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Four policemen, including Sub-inspector Abul Kashem, were reported injured during the clash. – UNB
