Journalist killing case hearing Wednesday

A Dhaka court on Monday fixed March 5 for hearing on a 10-day remand of the four accused in the case filed in connection with the death of journalist Shah Alam Mollah Sagar, 41, who died as the police claimed falling down from the roof of a building at Uttara in the capital.
The accused include Nazrul Islam (Mistri), Trust College principal Bashiruddin and his associate Anisur Rahman. West Uttara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ali Mahmud produced the accused to the CMM Court of Dhaka, while Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman fixed the date for hearing on the remand prayer as necessary case docket was not produced to conduct the hearing.It has been learnt that the weekly Oparad Daman’s journalist Sagar died at about 7.15 pm on Sunday falling from the roof of a building. Uttara West Police Station SI Harunur Rashid filed a case in connection with the incident accusing four people.
It was also heard that there was a scuffle between Sagar, Bashiruddin and his men at the police station on the day and none noticed Sagar going to the roof, said the police sources.
Sagar’s body was sent for autopsy. – Court Correspondent
