Journo Saiful Islam Talukder recalled

Speakers at a discussion here Tuesday recalled the life and works of late journalist Saiful Islam Talukder, who died on March 14, for his outstanding role for realising demands of journalist community.
“Talukder always worked sincerely to the cause of underprivileged newsmen as well as establish the ideal of war of liberation,” they observed.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) organised the memorial meeting on late Saiful Islam Talukder, former joint secretary of BFUJ, at the Jatiya Press Club with its President Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul in the chair. Prime Minister’s information and media affairs advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, DUJ president Altaf Mahmood, Talukder’s widow Syeda Tahera Saiful, BFUJ vice-president Dr Utfal Kumar Sarkar, secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, treasurer Khairuzzaman Kamal, DUJ general secretary Quddus Afrad, senior journalists M Shahjahan Miah, Kartik Chatarjee, Kazi Rafiq, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Besides, former general secretaries of Jatiya Press Club Shafiqur Rahman and Swapan Saha, joint secretary Farida Yasmin took part in the discussion.
Iqbal Sobhan Chowdury said that Saiful, a true secular man, had played significant role for establishing the policy and ideal of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Saiful never compromised with the question of the spirit of war of liberation. We have lost an efficient organizer with the death of Saiful Talukder which is an irreparable for us,” PM’s media advisor said.
Narayanganj Journalists Union (NJU) also organized a memorial discussion at Chashara in the city with its president Khondokar Shah Alam in the chair.
Narayanganj Press Club president poet Halim Azad, editor of the daily Khoborer Patha Mahbubur Rahman, NUJ vice-president Rafiqul Islam and general secretary Afzal Hossain took part in the discussion on the life and works of Talukdar. – BSS
