Opposition BNP on Friday lashed out at Prime Minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy for his comment over Awami League’s reelection and said his remarks manifested the ruling party’s evil-design for manipulating the next general election. The party also sharply reacted to his remarks involving BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman in the August-21 grenade attack.
“The imaginary information of Sajeeb Wazed Joy about the next general election is fraudulent and politically motivated. It indicates a deep-rooted conspiracy against the next election. We condemn and protest his remarks,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The BNP leader came up with his party’s reaction to Joy’s remarks at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
Earlier on Tuesday at an Iftar party, Joy said, “I’ve information Awami League will come back to power… I’m here to face BNP’s false propaganda.”
Referring to the August-21 grenade attack on an Awami League rally, Joy said, “We didn’t forget the August-21 grenade attack. Grenades were thrown targeting my mom…The plan for the attack was made at Hawa Bhaban. The then Prime Minister’s son had masterminded the plan to kill my mother.”
Criticising the remarks, Rizvi said, “The comments of Sajeeb Wazed Joy indicating Tarique Rahman are distasteful, untruth, fabricated, imprudent and unguarded. We with strong voice protest and condemn such remarks.”
The BNP leader alleged that Joy as a young man failed to give any direction to bring about a change in the ongoing political situation rather treated the opposition as an enemy and brought revengeful false allegation against them following the footsteps of his guardians and Awami culture.
He said bringing false allegation against Tarique, the PM’s son tried to hush up the governments’ barbaric and repressive acts over its last four-and-a-half-year’s rule.
Rizvi claimed people believe that the August-21 grenade attack was a result of local and international blueprint of conspiracy to bring the current regime in power. “It was an international master plan. The tragic incident had been taken place by a vested quarter to put the then BNP-led government in an uncomfortable situation.”
He also alleged that Tarique was implicated the in the August-21 grenade attack case as part of the government’s conspiracy.
Turning to Joy’s claim over Awami League’s reelection, the BNP leader said the PM’s son has denied the people’s demand for holding a free, fair and credible election by his comment that he has information about Awami League’s victory. “He has information about vote rigging, evil-design and a lopsided election.”
He said Joy would not make such comment mocking people’s voting right if he had read the wall writings and saw the survey of the newspapers. – UNB
