JP ministers’ resignation letters to be sent by mail

All Jatiya Party ministers and state ministers in the ‘all-party’

interim poll-time government have handed over their resignations to
party chief HM Ershad.
The resignation letters will be sent to the Prime Minister’s office by
mail since she could not give an appointment, said the party’s
Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader on Sunday.
Seven resignation letters have been submitted to the chairman, he told
reporters at Ershad’s Baridhara residence.
The former dictator on Tuesday declared his party will stay away from the polls.
He made the startling revelation a day after candidates of his party
filed nominations for most of the 300 parliamentary seats even after
the BNP and its allies in the Opposition preferred to stay away.
Ershad on Wednesday directed the six Jatiya Party ministers in the
interim Cabinet and an advisor to the Prime Minister to quit their
posts.
Two Jatiya Party ministers – Raushan Ershad and ABM Ruhul Amin
Howlader – and State Minister for Youth and Sports Mojibul Haque
Chunnu met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday after Ershad’s
call for resignation. But they did not submit their resignation
letters to Hasina.
The other ministers from the party are Commerce Minister Ghulam
Muhammed Quader, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, State
Minister for Women and Children Affairs Salma Islam and Prime
Minister’s Advisor Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu.
Ershad had said on Saturday his party ministers would tender their
resignations to the Prime Minister.
The ministers held two separate meetings at the residences of Raushan
Ershad and Hawlader, after emerging from Ershad’s house.
Hawlader had told reporters on Saturday they would submit resignations
on Sunday. – bdnews24.com
