JS passes Bangabandhu Digital University bill

Dhaka – Bangladesh Parliament on Sunday passed the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Bangladesh Bill, 2016 aiming to expedite the process of building digital Bangladesh, UNB news agency reported.Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid moved the bill and it was passed by voice vote.
The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University would expand facilities for higher education on science and modern technology and also the science-based subjects for improved education, research, technology innovation.
According to the bill, the government would establish the digital university in the greater interest of expansion of science in the country along with usage and expansion of world famous technology, declared by the Prime Minister.
It said the university would make significant contributions to creating employment and innovating new entrepreneurs at home and abroad in the ICT sector.
