JU introduces multi-disciplinary int’l confce on science

Savar (Dhaka), 24 Jan – A 3-day inter-disciplinary international conference on Mathematical and Physical Sciences Faculty subjects will begin at the Zahir Raihan auditorium and the Mathematics-Statistics Building in Jahangirnagar University (JU) on January 27.For the 1 st time, JU Mathematical and Sciences Faculty, in association with Daffodil International University (DIU), is arranging the programme, titled “International Conference on Recent Advancement in Mathematical and Physical sciences (ICRAMPS)”.
Dean of the faculty Prof A K Majumder, also the conference chair, came up with the disclosure at a press meet in his office yesterday.
In the conference, national and international speakers, from around 20 countries, are expected to present a total of 150 research works along with 85 and 65 oral and poster presentations respectively, he added.
Terming the conference 1 st ICRAMPS, Prof Dr. A A Mamun of JU Physics department, also Scientific Program Committee chair of the conference, said: ‘This intra-disciplinary conference is being organized aiming at exchanging of knowledge and thoughts among the concerned of Science Faculty disciplines and the nationals and internationals of relative spheres, which will sequentially be holding at 3 years-interval’.
A total of 6 speakers, in two categories, will be awarded at the conference – 3 for oral presentations and the rest are for poster presentations, he added.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam, as the chief guest, is expected to inaugurate the event while Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr Abul Hussain, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Amir Hossain and Treasurer Prof Sheikh Md. Mozurul Huq as the special guests.
In the press conference, Prof Dr Md. Sharif Uddin, the chairman of Mathematics department, also the conference secretary and Prof Dr Farid Ahmed of Physics department were present among others.
Mentionable, the 7 subjects of the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Faculty are – Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geological Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Statistics.
The thesis-students of the concerned disciplines are invited to participate the conference through registration. – Md. Anas Uddin
