Judiciary politicisation affects life of  ordinary people: Khaleda

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday alleged that the opposition leaders and activists as well as common people are deprived of justice due to politicisation of judiciary.
She made the allegation while addressing an iftar mahfil organised by Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), a pro-BNP forum of physicians, at Ladies Club in the city.Khaleda Zia reached the venue just the time of iftar and addressed the function after breaking the fast.
The former premier termed the present government an autocratic and oppressive and said they would be ousted through mass upsurge.
She called upon all to get united to ensure removal of the government and offer prayer to the Almighty for its downfall.
Accusing the government of politicising all the state organs including the judiciary, Khaleda said the political people were set in higher posts and that’s why the people as well the opposition leaders and activists are not getting justice.
“Leaders of the ruling Awami League are not brought to the justice whatever offense they commit,” she said.
The BNP chairperson strongly criticised the role of a section of police, who abduct people for collecting ransom. “They send them (people) on cross fire or pour them in jails if the victims fail to provide money,” she said adding the hands of police have become taller than hands of law.”
She said police demanded that they helped the government to remain in power and they resisted the opposition movement by exploding bombs, setting fire on vehicles and arresting opposition leaders and activist.
Khaleda also alleged that all recruitments and promotions are given on political consideration undermining the merit and seniority.
She said country’s democracy has become meaningless and there is no rule of law and safety and security of life and property.
