President of Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League Bangabir Kader Siddique Biruttam has agreed with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia most of the national issues discussed betwen them on thursday despite differences of opinion between them.“I am pleased at most of the talking pints raised by the former premier having difference of opinion. We agreed on issues in the national interests,” he said after emerging from a two-hour long meeting with Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence last night.
The BNP chairperson urged him to join her initiative to forge a national unity to curb terrorism and militancy in the country.
“We will inform our party decision through a press conference at our party office at 11:30am tomorrow (Friday),” he said.
The BKSJL leader made it clear that he would not do politics with Jamaat rather he wants to carryout politics imbued with the ideal of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said he would however resist any conspiracy against both daughter of Bangabandhu Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and wife of a freedom fighter and leader of major opposition party Khaleda Zia.
Kader Siddique regretted that he has to face many obstruction to join Khaleda’s meeting and said he never think that he would face such obstacle.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the two leaders discussed as to how the nation could be united and terrorism and militancy could be root out.
He thanked the BKSJL leader to come forward at t eh cal of Khaleda Zia at the critical juncture of the nation.
The meeting began at 8pm and continued till 10pm was also attended by Tariqul Islam, Maj (Retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed and Abdullah Al Noman of BNP and Nasreen Kader Siddique, Habibur Rahman Siddique of BKSJL.
The BNP chairperson took the initiative to hold talks with leaders of like minded political parties in a bid to forging greater national unity against terrorism after the July 1 Gulshan café attack.
As part of her initiative, the BNP chairperson has taken the decision last week to invite leaders of different like-minded political parties, outside the ruling Awami League led 14-party alliance, and individuals over tea to discuss the forging of a national unity against terrorism and militancy.
According to a party decision, the Jamaat-e-Islami, a major component of the 20-party alliance, will be kept outside the anti-terrorism unity process.
BNP has invited Gano Forum, Nagorik Oikya JSD (Rab) and Samyabadi Dal to forge the said national unity against terror, sources said – Staff Reporter
