Kashimpur jail guard killing: 1 held

Gazipur –A case has been filed making nine to ten people accused in connection with the killing of a guard of Kashimpur Jail on Monday morning.

Victim’s wife Nasrin Akhter filed the case with Joydebpur police station early Tuesday against four named and five to six unnamed people, said duty officer of the police station Abdul Aziz.
Of the accused, police arrested the prime accused, Himel.
The complainant in the case mentioned that Himel used to tease daughter of victim Rustom’s brother Shah Alam who lives with family in Konabari area.
Himel along with three others killed her husband, as he protested stalking, she alleged.
Meanwhile, following an order of the inspector general of prisons, additional security measures have been taken in Kashimpur jail.
Two probe committees have also been formed by the jail authorities and the district police to investigate the incident.
Earlier on Monday morning, Rustom Ali, 60, a former sergeant instructor of the female unit of the jail, was gunned down by miscreants when he went to ‘Ahmed Medicine Corner,’ adjacent to the main gate of the prison, to buy medicine.
