Khaleda briefs the press on political situation Wednesday

Amid the growing political tension, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is going to hold an emergency press conference on Wednesday evening.
The press conference will be held around 6:30pm at her Gulshan office, a press release signed by her press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said on Tuesday night.
Party sources said the BNP chief through the press meet will project the country’s latest political situation. She will also justify the reasons behind their movement as her party is going to wage a decisive movement very soon.
Khaleda will also place their various demands, including arrangement of a fresh inclusive election under a non-party administration, disbanding Rab, withdrawing ‘false’ cases against her party’s senior leaders and allowing them to exercise their democratic rights to hold rallies, to the government for the last time, the sources said.
She will also depict the government’s different failures to run the state and its ‘misdeeds and repressive acts’, the sources added.
The BNP chief is likely to give the government an ultimatum until January 5 to take an initiative to hold dialogue for creating a congenial environment for fresh polls, or else, they will announce harsher programmes, like hartals and blockades to realise their demand, a source close to Khaleda Zia said.
Senior leaders of BNP and its alliance partners will be present at the press conference. – UNB
