BNP Chairperson and leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia on Wednesday expressed profound shock at the death former Chief Justice Kemaluddin Hossain. In a condolence message, she said former Chief Justice Kemaluddin Hossain as a noted legal expert had worked hard to keep untarnished the reputation and dignity of the judiciary. “The damage caused to the country at his death isn’t easily recoverable,” Khaleda added. The former premier prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. In another condolence message, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also condoled the death of Kemaluddin Hossain. Kemaluddin Hossain died of cancer at a city hospital early Wednesday at the age of 90. He discharged his duty as the fourth chief justice of Bangladesh from 1978 to 1982. He was also the first chairman of the Law Commission. -UNB
