Khaleda for resisting imperialist forces with Ekushey spirit

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday urged people to resist imbued with the spirit of Amar Ekushey all the imperialist forces conspiring against the country.   “Though the country has been liberated, the new imperialist forces in a different style want to keep us as a subservient nation by establishing their cultural and economic supremacy in the country,” she said in a message on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day. The BNP chief continued: “They don’t want us to stand raising our head above. So, the everlasting spirit of the Amar Ekushey will inspire us this day too to resist all the imperialist forces conspiring against the country.”   The nation is set to pay a glowing tribute to the martyrs of the historic 1952 Language Movement with the clock striking one minute past midnight Friday to mark ‘Amar Ekushey’, the Language Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day.   In her message, Khaleda, also the former Prime Minister, recalled with deep respect all the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement.   She also wished the success of the all programmes taken by different socio-cultural and political organisations to mark the day.   The BNP chief also prayed for salvation of the departed souls of the martyrs of the Language Movement and conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family members.   Besides, she greeted the Language Movement heroes and wished them happiness, peace and long life. – UNB
