Khaleda forgets torture of CG govt: Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said the opposition leader might have forgotten the torture and repression of the past caretaker government.

“The people of the country people did not forget it. How is Khaleda Zia so sure that the next caretaker government will not send her two sons abroad by giving a good beating,” she said putting question.

The premier, also ruling Awami League president, came up with the observation while addressing a view exchange meeting with lawyers at her official Gano Bhaban in the city.

Regarding the demand of the opposition for restoring the caretaker government, the premier said the people of the country did not forget the tyrannical rule of the past caretaker government.

Urging the lawyers to be united, she said, “The democratic process has to be continued for socio-economical development.”

Regarding war crime trial, she said, “The conspiracies are being hatched to halt the ongoing trial of the 1971 culprits and install the anti-liberation forces in power again.”

She added: “So, you have to remain alert and to be united against this plot as no achievement is possible without unity.”

Post and Telecommunication Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun, State Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advocate Qamrul Islam, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, AL Organizing Secretary Advocate Misbahuddin Siraj and eminent lawyers Barrister Amirul Islam, Advocate Syed Rezaur Rahman and Advocate Suruzzaman were among others present at the meeting.
