Khaleda meets 18-partry leaders: Mass contact before strong movement

A day after a crucial meeting with her party’s policymakers, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia had a meeting on Sunday nifht with top leaders of the 18-Party Alliance to finalise their next line of action. Party sources said issues like country’s latest political situation, next election, movement strategies and working out fresh agitation programmes and the Prime Minister’s  press conference are came up for discussion at the meeting.
The BNP chief at the meeting with the 18-Party leaders was expected to finalise some soft line of action programmes like demonstration and rally to force the government to arrange the next polls under a non-party caretaker administration.

“We want to go ahead with soft programmes like holding rallies, demonstrations and carrying out mass campaign…we’re now preferring a go-slow policy,” a party leader told journalists after Sarturday’s meeting.
Meeting sources said before going for the decisive movement, the party policymakers decided to do out a mass campaign across the country to increase people’s involvement with their anti-government agitations.
“The BNP chief will visit different districts and the central leaders will organise mass campaign programme at the level,” party standing committee member Tariqul Islam told reporters after the meeting.
The standing committee members agreed to go for the final movement from October with harsher programmes if the government does not concede their demand for restoration of the caretaker government system, the sources said.
Khaleda Zia was learnt to have briefed the party policymakers about her parley with US Ambassador Den Mozena held on August 11. – Agencies
