Khaleda starts Iftar with orphan, Islamic scholars

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia took Iftar with orphans and alem-ulema (Islamic scholars) on the first day of the fasting month of Ramadan on Thursday.
Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, hosted the Iftar party at the city’s Ladies Club.
Entering the venue around 6:15pm, the BNP chief exchanged pleasantries with the guests.
Over 150 orphans, including boys and girls, from different orphanages in the capital as well as a good number of Islamic scholars from various areas attended the Iftar party.
A munajat was offered before the Iftar seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country and welfare of its people.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Dr RA Gani, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar, Jamiruddin Sircar, ASM Hannan Shah, Sarwari Rahman, Rafiqul Islam Mia, Mirza Abbas, Abdul Moyeen Khan and Nazrul Islam Khan and vice chairman M Morshed joined the Iftar.
The opposition leader will also host an Iftar party at Parliament Members’ Club LD Hall-2 on Saturday in honour of the leaders of different political parties.
Top leaders of all political parties, including Awami League and Jatiya Party, have been invited to the Iftar programme.
