Khaleda’s set for mass contact rallies

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to address a number of street rallies in the capital on Wednesday to press the government for a non-partisan body to oversee the next national elections.
She is scheduled to attend the first rally on Beauty Cinema Hall premises in Mirpur’s Gabtoli at 11am, party’s Dhaka city unit Member Secretary Abdus Salam told a press briefing at the BNP headquarters at Naya Paltan on Tuesday.
The other rallies would be held at Karwan Bazar, Jatrabari, Shobujbagh and Badda the same day, he said.
She will also exchange greetings with her supporters in Old Dhaka’s Dholaikhal area.
After the Gabtoli rally, she will start for the largest retail market of the city, Karwan Bazar. On her way, her supporters are likely to greet her motorcade from the two sides of the Gabtoli-Karwan Bazar street via Kalyanpur, Agargaon and Farmgate.
She will head for the next rally at Dholaikhal through the Film Development Corporation (FDC) street, Moghbazar level-crossing, Ramna Police Station road, Baily Road, Kakrail Mosque, Matsya Bhaban, High Court, Nagar Bhaban, Golap Shah’s shrine at Gulistan, North South Road and Roy Saheb Bazar Road.
The third rally will be held at Jatrabari’s Shahid Faruk Sarak and the fourth at Balur Maath of Basabo.
The day-long campaign will end with the rally at Badda’s Vatara Maath.
