Khoka to be buried in Jurain beside his parents’ graves

Dhaka, November 05 – Former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation and BNP vice-chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka will be buried beside the graves of his parents at Jurain graveyard in the city as per his last wish.

The body of Khoka, who died of cancer in a hospital in the USA on November 4, is expected to reach at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:10 am on Thursday as all necessary preparations are complete, according to BNP and his family sources.
Meanwhile, the first namaz-e-janaza of Sadeque Hossain Khoka, a valiant freedom fighter, was held at 8:30 am (Bangladesh time) yesterday at Jamaica Muslim Heights in the USA.
There will be four more namaz-e-janaza of Khoka after reaching his body back to the country before his burial. His second namaz-e-janaza will be held at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 11:00 am on November 7. Then, his body will be taken to Shaheed Minar and kept there for an hour from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm to show respects by the people from different walks of life.
The third namaz-e-janaza of Khoka will be held in front of BNP central office at Naya Paltan after zohr prayer while the fourth namaz-e-janaza will be held at Dhaka South City Corporation at 3:00 pm and then his body will be taken to his Gopibagh residence.
The fifth and last namaz-e-janaza of Khoka will be held at Dhupkhola ground after asr prayer and later he will be buried at Jurain graveyard beside the graves of his father and mother.
Meanwhile, the BNP will observe countrywide mourning day on November 6 at the death of Sadeque Hossain Khoka, who was also president of Dhaka city unit of BNP.
The programmes of mourning day include hoisting party flags at its offices across the country, wearing black badges and offering Qurankhwani.
BNP senior joint secretary general Rizvi Ahmed announced the programme at a press conference at party central office yesterday.
Sadeque Hossain Khoka, 67, died around 1:50 pm (BST) on Monday in the USA, had long been suffering from cancer.
He had been undergoing treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York since October 18 for cancer with some other health complications.
The former city mayor is survived by his wife Ismat Ara, daughter Sarika Sadeque, sons Ishraque, Isfaque Hossain and a host of relatives, followers and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Sadeque Hossain Khoka along with his wife went to the USA in 2014 for treatment while the validity of their passports expired in 2017. – Staff Reporter
