KrisEnergy has completed a 3,146km 2D seismic acquisition programme in the SS-11 exploration block offshore Bangladesh.
CGG Services carried out the programme, which took 22 days to complete. Block SS-11 covers a total of 4,475km² in the Bay of Bengal, and the majority of acreage lies within shallow waters of 200m.KrisEnergy exploration and production director Chris Gibson-Robinson said: “The existing 2D data sets were acquired in the mid-1970s, and this programme will provide higher resolution data to confirm existing prospects and leads and assess the overall prospectivity of the block
“It will also help us determine potential locations for a planned 3D seismic programme, to which we are committed under the work program obligations.”
KrisEnergy holds a 45% interest in Block SS-11, alongside Santos Sangu Field, which also holds a 45% stake. Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company own the remaining 10% stake.
KrisEnergy focuses on the exploration, development and production of oil and gas in the basins of Southeast Asia.
The company’s target focus area stretches from the Surma Basin in Bangladesh in the west to the Papuan Basin in the east, and from offshore southern China in the north to Indonesia in the south.
KrisEnergy holds interests in 19 licenses in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam covering a gross acreage of 68,391km². It operates 12 of the contract areas. – offshore technology.com
