Labour party calls countrywide hartal for Monday

Bangladesh Labour Party, a component of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, on Sunday called a countrywide daylong hartal for Monday, protesting the arrest if its chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran.
Secretary general of the Labour Party Hamdullah Al Mehedi announced the shutdown programme at a press conference at its Paltan office in the afternoon.Speaking on the occasion, Mehedi said the hartal is also meant for demanding the release of their chairman.

Later on Friday, a Dhaka court placed him on a one-day remand in a case filed in connection with vandalism and arson attacks.
3 Eden College girld get burn injuries
Meanwhile, Three students of Eden Mohila College suffered burn injuries as pickets set fire to a bus in the city’s Khejurbagan area on the eastern side of Sangshad Bhaban complex on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Sathi Akhter, 19, Juthi Akhter, 19, and Maimuna Begu, 18, all the 1st year honours students of the College.
Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital said miscreants set fire to the bus of ‘Bikalpa Paribahan’ by hurling a petrol bomb near the Sangshad Bhaban complex around 1:45 pm, leaving the three passengers of the bus injured.
The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.- UNB
