Laila wins crown of ‘Close-up 1’ contest

‘Close Up 1: Tomakei Khunjchhe Bangladesh’, which has produced some of the finest music talents in the country, saw its yet another winner on Saturday evening.Folk singer Laila, at the grand finale of the contest, was crowned the much-coveted title of ‘Close Up 1’. Sohag was announced the first runner-up and Tutul grabbed the spot of second runner-up for the fourth season of the popular music reality show.
Laila’s win on the show landed her Tk 1.0 million cash and a brand new car while the first and second runners up received Tk 0.5 and 0.3 million respectively.
An elated Laila, after her win, thanked all those who voted for her victory. She beat Sohag and Tutul on a point system that included both marks given by the judges and public votes (through SMS).
Laila got a total of 55, 30,200 votes while Sohag received 58, 22,116 and Tutul bagged 30, 0000 votes. When it came to scores from judges, Laila got 36 out of 50 while judges gave Sohag 31 and Tutul scored 35.
The grand finale, which was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city, was buzzed with some colourful musical performances. ‘Close Up 1’ stars of 2005, 2006 and 2008 gave fabulous performances throughout the gala programme.
The grand finale was also power-packed by the performances of the final trio; Laila, Sohag and Tutul. They, during the finale, rendered some oft-heard Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra songs and patriotic numbers.

With the slogan ‘Swapna Sadhona Shahoshey Gao Atmabishshashey’, the reality show began in 2012 with much enthusiasm and fanfare. After nine-month countrywide audition rounds, the talent-hunt programme picked its winner for its fourth season.
Anchored by Sayem and former ‘Close Up 1’ winner Putul, the finale was judged by renowned lyricist-composer Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, popular singers Fahmida Nabi and Parth Barua.
Earlier, the countrywide primary audition and selection rounds of the show were done in 10 venues including Dhaka, Chittagong, Comilla, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh.
The primary auditions were judged by Shujeyo Shyam, Zahid Hossain, Liton Adhikari Rintu, Labu Rahman, Anup Bhattacharya, Shahnewaj, Piaru Rahman, Partha Majumdar, Jalal Ahmed, Tanim and Elita Karim.
The preliminary rounds for the expatriate Bangladeshis were held for the first time in the USA, UK, UAE, Canada and Australia.
This year ‘Close Up 1’ was directed by ntv Executive Producer Alfred Khokon. Producer of ntv Kazi Mohammad Mustafa is the line producer of the talent hunt.
