Law minister not sure when war crimes trial will end

Dhaka – Law Minister Anisul Haq on Sunday said in Parliament that it is not possible to exactly say when the trial of war criminals will complete.
“So, it’s not possible to say exactly when the trial of war criminals will end,” Haque said while responding to a starred question from Waresat Hussain Belal (Netrokona-5) in the House.He said the cases related to crimes against humanity get settled finally through hearing in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court after the verdicts pronounced by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICTs).
The Law Minister mentioned that the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973 was amended in 2013 to expedite the trial of the war criminals.
He expressed his hope to see the cases settled quickly as promised by the government.
The Law Minister also said the trial of war criminals is an ongoing process. – UNB
