Leathergoods, footwear, ceramic export to get EDF boost

Export oriented manufacturing units in certain sectors like BTMA member mills, BGAPMEA and BPGMEA member accessories/packaging material manufacturer-exporters can access for input imports in bulk based on their past performance rather than against specific export orders at hand. Input import needs of finished leather/leather goods/ceramic ware manufacturer-exporters against each specific export orders often being not big enough to attract interest of suppliers abroad; it has been decided that member manufacturer-exporters of Leathergoods & Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) and Bangladesh Ceramic Wares Manufacturers’ Association (BCWMA) will also be allowed to draw EDF finance for bulk imports against estimated requirements for upto one year, based on their export performance over the preceding year.
Other instructions contained in FE Circular No. 25, dated December 22, 2009 and its subsequent circulars shall remain unchanged, the Bangladesh Bank announced through a circular on Wesnesday.
