Three people were killed and seven others injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Shyamnagar upazila on Wednesday morning.
Of the deceased, two were identified as Nurunnahar,35, wife of Rahman Par, a resident of Sora village, and Sajeda Khatun,40, a resident of Bangshipur Patrakhali village of the same upazila, while identity of another one could not be known immediately.Witnesses said two women died on the spot and seven others injured as a thunderbolt hit them in the area 8:30am.
The injured were admitted to Shyamnagar upazila health complex. Among them, condition of two was stated to be critical.
