Lions service week observed in Sylhet

Sylhet city mayor Ariful Haque chowdhury said , Lion clubs  are  the claimant of praised as they working for development of socio culture
of Bangladesh. He said, it is our moral responsibility to encourage them who working for the country as well as the society. He said this while he inaugurated a colorful procession arranged by the Lions club of Sylhet on their October service week on Tuesday noon. Among others, Lions District 315 B-1 Governor Dr. Azizur Rahman, Lions Sejuan Ahmed, Lion Amin Uddin, Lion Jubaer Ahmed also spoke at the program.  The procession brought out from Sishu hospital and also end there after parading the main road of the city. Durga Puja continue in full swing in five  upazilas of Thakurgon district where all-time record number idols of Goddess Durga are being
erected this year, officials and leaders of the Puja Udjapan Parishad said.
Hindu community people of all ages are rushing to the markets and purchasing Puja clothes to celebrate their greatest religious festival from October 10 with great enthusiasm, religious fervor and gaiety. The district and Police administration and Puja Udjapan Parishad Committee sources said nearly 421 puja mandaps are being set up this year in Thakurgaon district. Of them 180  puja mandaps in Thakurgaon Sadar, 111 puja mandaps in Pirganj, 62 puja mandaps in Baliadangi, 42 puja mandaps in Ranisonkoil and 20 puja mandaps in Haripur upazila of the district.
The artisans are passing their busiest time at this with their
artistic creativity and colors. The five-day festival will begin from October 10 and end on October 14 when the Hindu communities celebrate Bijoya Dashami through the immersion of idols of Goddess Durga with festivity and religious
fervor.  Narsingdi Correspondent adds: Adequate Preparations have been made to celebrate Durga Puja, the greatest religions festival of the Hindu
community in Narsingdi in a befitting manner. The work on erection of Puja mondaps and images of the goddess Durga
is going on in full swing in the district. According to the official concerned Durga Puja will be held in 296 mondaps in the district in cluding 28 in the district town this year. At total of 81 Mandops are in Sadar upazila, 22 in Belabo, 41 in Polash, 65 in Shibpur, 50 in Raipura, 37 in Monohardi upazilas of the district. Meanwhile Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner has organized a meeting at the conference room here Today Wednesday with Deputy Commissioner Md. Obaidul Azam in the chair aimed at making the celebration of Durga Puja a total success.
The district administration has sanctioned 296 metric tons of rice for the Puja mondaps in the district to help the celebration process.
The district administration is also taking special security measures throughout the district for ensuring peaceful celebration of the festival. President of Narsingdi district puja uzzapan committee Ranjit Kumar Sha and district administration sources said the five day festival will start on Oct 10 next and will conclude on October 14 through the immersion of the idols on the day of the Bijoya Dashami.
