Dhaka, Mar 24 (UNN) – A local leader of ruling Awami League (AL) was shot dead in Titas upazila here in Comilla on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Monir, 48, former president of Jagatpur union Awami League, said Inspector (investigation) Manzur Kader Bhuiyan of Titas Police Station.
Some unidentified miscreants fired two bullets in Monir’s chest in front a school in Vatipara village under Jagatpur union around 8:30pm, police said.
The victim was rushed to Gauripur Upazila Health Complex in Daudkandi where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Meanwhile, a local source said Monir might have been killed due to the internal clash of the party.UNB
