Cox’s Bazar, Dec 18 – A madrasa boy was beaten to death allegedly by his teachers at Matarbari Model village in Maheshkhali Upazila on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Md Emran, a fourth grader of Fayzul Ulum Madrasa in the area and son of Mohammad Hossain of the village.
Soon after the incident, police arrested two persons including a teacher of the madrasa for interrogation, said Sub-inspector Amin of Moheshkhali Police Station.
Victim’s family members said his mother took him to the madrasa in the morning and his teachers beat him with canes indiscriminately for being absent for a week.
At one stage, the victim lost his sense and the teachers hanged him up with a window grill in a bid to show that Emran committed suicide, they alleged.
Later, locals cordoned off the Institute for hours as no one can flee the scene and at one stage they managed to catch the teacher who was responsible for the beating.
Police rushed in and arrested two people including the teacher in this connection, said the SI.
However, when contacted, Provash Chandra Dhor, officer-in-charge of the police station, said the actual reason behind the death would be known after an autopsy.
The madrasa authorities temporarily shut down the institute and additional policemen were deployed in and around the area to avoid any unwanted situation, the OC added. – UNB
