Mahmudur Rahman on remand

Daily Amar Desh Acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman was placed on remand for three more days on Wednesday for questioning on a Ramna police case alleging him for stirring religious passions.Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-ar-Rashid gave the order after hearing.
Mahmudur Rahman was produced at court from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the morning.
Ramna Police Station Sub Inspector Mir Rezaul Islam sought 10 days remand to facilitate further questioning.
The petition seeking remand said Rahman’s coverage provoked 250 Jamaat-Shibir supporters to launch an attack on Shahbagh’s Ganajagaran Mancha.
Defence lawyer Belal Hossain said Rahman did not appeal against the remand or for a bail.
Mahmudur Rahman was arrested on Apr 11 over charges of sedition and publishing a so-called Skype conversation of an ICT judge.
He was later remanded for 13 days in three cases.
