Chittagong Police on Thursday arrested Russel Matubbar, the suspected main killer of Barisal
University student Saida Akhter Sawda, from Kanchi Dighi area under the Port Thana.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) Md Atiqur Rahman told
journalists that they, acting on secret information, arrested Russel who fled away from here since
the killing of Sawda.
Russel along with his friends chopped Sawda indiscriminately on September 5 and she succumbed to
her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) later.
Sawda, a first year Honours student of Management Department of the university, refused a love
proposal from Russel Matubbar. –BSS, Barisal
