Make missions effective to boost export: DCCI

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Sunday urged Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni to take initiatives for making Bangladesh missions abroad more effective and vibrant for expanding the country’s export market and boosting export volume.DCCI President M Sabur Khan made the request during a meeting between the DCCI board members and the Foreign Minister at her office.
The DCCI President emphasised enhancing the skills of commercial councils now engaged in foreign missions.
“The Foreign Ministry, Commerce Ministry, Export Promotion Bureau and foreign missions will have to work together to help boost export,” Sabur Khan said.
He proposed introducing awards for the best five ambassadors and commercial councils considering their contribution in expanding export market. “It’ll encourage them to put in their best efforts.”
Sabur Khan also urged the Foreign Minister to take initiatives so that the expatriate Bangladeshis feel interested to invest back home.
The Foreign Minister listened to their proposals and assured them of addressing those.
She expressed concern over the frequent hartal calls and political violence which are hurting the economy.
