Make Tonu’s 2nd autopsy report public: Civil society

Comilla- Civil society members here on Monday demanded that the report of the 2nd autopsy conducted on the body of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu be made public soon to put the killers on trial. The demand came from a human chain programme formed in front of the Town Hall at Kandirpar here in the afternoon.

Speakers said there have been complexities in ascertaining the reason behind the death of the college and girl and identifying her killers as the authorities concerned are dillydallying in publishing the 2nd autopsy report.
They also demanded action against Dr Sharmin Sultana who conducted the 1st autopsy on Tonu which did not find any rape evidence.

On May 17, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) disclosed that it found rape evidence on the body of the Comilla Victoria College student in its DNA test.
Earlier, doctors at the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital in their first autopsy report did not find any sign of rape before the death of the college girl.
On March 28, a local court ordered the exhumation of Tonu’s body for fresh autopsy.
The court order follows ‘discrepancies’ in the investigation agencies’ primary findings and what has been gleaned from her original autopsy.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, the second year student of History Department of Comilla Victoria College and member of Victoria College Theatre, was found dead in a bush beside a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment on March 20.
