Malaysian shuttlers dominate Yonex-Sunrise Jr Int’l Badminton

Dhaka – Malaysian shuttlers established their supremacy in the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Junior International Badminton series after emerging champions in three events out of five that concluded at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium here on Sunday.

Malaysian shuttlers clinched men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles crown while Indian player clinched the men’s singles and Thai player won the women’s singles title of the meet.

Secretary of the Information Ministry and Bangladesh Badminton Federation (BBF) President Abdul Malek, also the Chief Guest at the day’s closing function distributed the prizes while BBF general secretary Amir Hossain Bahar was also present.

Meiraba Luwang of India clinched the men’s single title beating Ken Yon Ong of Malaysia by 21-14, 21-18 points in the final while Krittaporn Liantanet of Thailand clinched the women’s singles crown beating Treesa Jolly of India by 21-12, 16-21, 21-16 points in the final.

In the men’s doubles, Malaysian pair Justin Hoh Shou Wei and M Fazriq Mohamad Razif clinched the title beating their compatriot Eon Eogene Ewe and Zhen Yi Ong by 13-21, 22-20, 21-12 points in all Malaysian final.

In the women’s doubles, Cheng Su Hui of Malaysia partnering with her compatriot Cheng Su Yin won the title beating Nepalese pair Jessica Gurung and Rasila Maharjan by 21-18, 21-7 points in the final.

The mixed doubles title of the meet also went to Malaysian pair— Goh Boon Zhe and Cheng Su Yin, who beat their compatriot Chong Ee Jack and Wong Qiao Shi by 21-18, 21-17 points in all Malaysian final.UNB
