A man died allegedly after being beaten by his rival over land dispute at Batiaghata upazila in Khulna
in the early hours on Thursdaay.
The deceased was identified as Zahangir Akan, 48, resident at village Tetultala in the upazila.
Quoting locals, Officer-in-charge Enamul Haque of Batiaghata Police Station said, a gang of 5-
6 people led by Mukter Ali and Altaf beaten up their rival Zahangir around 1 am following an
altercation at his residence.
The neighbours came out hearing the call for help and chased the miscreants but they managed to
flee.
Being informed police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Khulna Medical College Hospital
(KMCH) for autopsy. A case was filed with Batiaghata Police Station in this regard. –BSS, Khulna
