Dhaka – A man was hacked to death by his rival over a land-related dispute at Paschim Rastri village in Sadar upazila of Madaripur on Saturday night, Unb news agency reported.
The deceased was identified as Saddam Bepari, son of Dalim Bepari, a resident of the village.Ziaul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said there had been a longstanding dispute over the ownership of a piece of land between Saddam and another person of the village.
There was also an arbitration meeting at the village over the issue at night.
Later locals spotted his body at the village at night and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
He might have been killed over the land-related matter, added the OC.
