A man was killed and two others were injured as a timber-laden trawler capsized after being hit by a launch in the confluence of Lohalia and Laukadi rivers in PatuakhaliSadar upazila on early Saturday.The deceased was identified as Jamal, hailing from Shutabaria village in Golachipa upazila.Two injured—Miraj Mridha and Faku—said they reached the confluence on Friday night by their trawler which was fully loaded with timber and dropped anchor there as there was dense fog on the river.However, a passenger carrying launch named ‘MV Eagle-3’ hit the trawler around 4:30am while the trio was sleeping on board the trawler.As a result, the trawler broke apart into several pieces and capsized in the river with Jamal, Miraj and Faku.Miraj and Faku managed to swim ashore but Jamal went missing.Later, locals recovered his body from the river around 7:30am.On information, police visited the spot and sent the body to hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Officer-in-charge of Patuakhali Sadar Police Station Tariqul Islam.Miraj and Faku with injuries were sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital, the OC added.UNB, Patuakhali
