Dhaka – A college student was set ablaze allegedly by her former husband in Atrai upazila in Naogon on Sunday.The victim was identified as Shahnaz Begum, a Class-XII student at Mollah Azad Memorial College and daughter of Soukhin Mondal.Locals said Shahnaz and Sadequl Alam Khan Sazzad got separated one and a half years ago,UNB News Agency Reported. However, Sazzad used to pressurise her to remarry him which she turned down.Angered at repeated refusals, Sazzad poured petrol on Shahnaz at Tinmatha of the upazila headquarters in the afternoon and set her afire.With burn injuries to the face and two hands, the victim was first taken to the upazila health complex from where she was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.Meanwhile, locals caught the culprit red-handed and handed him over to police.
