A man allegedly stabbed his divorced wife to death at Fatullah in Sadar upazila on Friday over a land-related dispute.
The deceased was identified as Ferdousi Begum Sabiha, 42, former wife of Nizam Uddin.
Police said Nizam divorced Sabiha on September 14 last over a family feud. After the divorce, they started to live in separate houses in Pagla Bhabi Bazar area of Fatullah.
The couple had an abandoned house on 6 decimals of land near Pagla Bhabi Bazar with the half owned by Nizam and the rest half by Sabiha.
Being informed that Sabiha and her brother Imranul Haque Mithu were breaking the lock of the gate to grab the entire house, Nizam rushed in and engaged in a brawl with Sabiha around 11:30am.
At one stage, he stabbed her indiscriminately, leaving her injured.
The injured was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital where she died around 1pm.
Meanwhile, locals caught Nizam while fleeing after the incident and handed him over to police.
