Man ‘trying to attack Rab checkpost’ in Dhaka gunned down

Dhaka, Mar 18 – An unidentified ‘miscreant’ was killed and two members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) were injured in an attack on a Rab checkpost in the city’s Khilgaon area early Saturday.Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of legal and media wing of Rab headquarters, said the ‘miscreant’ riding a motorcycle made the attack with explosives on the checkpost of Rab-3 around 4:35am.
Seeing the attacker, the RAB members opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Two members of the elite force were injured in the attack.
Earlier on Friday a suspected suicide bomber was killed as four bombs carried by him exploded at a Forces Barrack of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Ashkona in the city early in the afternoon.
The Rab media wing had informed that an unidentified young man entered the barrack, also the proposed site of the Rab force’s headquarters, climbing the wall of adjacent Ashkona Hajj camp around 1:05pm.
When two Rab members saw the unidentified young man, they challenged him. The young man started running away and at one stage, four bombs, attached to his body, went off with a big bang, leaving him dead on the spot and the two Rab men injured. – UNB
