A bill, titled ‘Mandatory Use of Jute in Packaging (Amendment) Bill-2013’, was passed in Parliament on Thursday. Textiles and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui piloted the Bill that was passed by voice vote. The bill proposed inclusion of the chiefs of the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, Bangladesh Jute Mills Association, and the Bangladesh Jute Spinners’ Association into the advisory committee which would work for promoting jute use. – UNB
