Mass awareness needed for making garbage-free M’singh

Speakers at a round table conference put special emphasis to create mass awareness for making a livable and garbage-free Mymensingh town.International organisation World Vision and Mymensingh Pourashava jointly organised the round table conference at Shahid Abdul Jabbar auditorium today.Purification Regional Field Director of World Vision Domenic Ranjan presided over the meeting. Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Ahad was present as chief guest.They also stressed the need for the development of garbage management system and its proper planning.Speakers said it is the duty and responsibility of the Pourashava to clean the town and to create livable environment.Speakers also said citizens of pourashava should come forward to help the pourashava authority to make a neat and clean town and healthy civic life.They urged all for launching social movement in this regard.Dr MA Faruque a teacher of Bangladesh Agriculture University, Mymensingh, presented a key note paper explaining different aspect of the prevailing garbage situation in Mymensingh town.
He gave some suggestion to improve the situation.Panel Mayor Faruque Ahamed, Disaster Field officer Abdul Barek, Press club Secretary Ataul Karim Khokan, Principal of Muslim Girls Schools and College Shabuddin Ahmed spoke on the occasion.Representatives of different NGOs, journalists, Imams and teachers took part in the roundtable conference. -BSS, Mymensingh
