Mayor launches road carpeting works in Rangpur

Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu launched carpeting works of five roads in different areas of the city on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mayor launched the road carpeting works at Dhap area under ward No-16 and Khasbag area under Ward No-30 in the city by cutting ribbon at separate ceremonies arranged on the occasions as the chief guest.

The road carpeting works are being implemented under the phase-wise construction packages of 142 separate roads, drains, culverts, drainage systems and other works under 142 groups at the cost of Taka 33 crore in the city from own resources of RCC.

City Panel Mayor of Councilor Golam Kabir Kajol (Ward No-16), Councilor Jahangir Alam Tota (Ward No-30), Superintending Engineer of RCC Emdad Hossain, its Executive Engineer Azam Ali, President of District Crockery Association Ali Hossain Mollah, Joint Secretary of City Shop Owners’ Association Moazzem Hossain Mithu, contractors Nur Alam and Asadullah Asad attended the ceremonies.

In the inaugural ceremonies, the RCC Mayor said that all of the infrastructural uplift works are being implemented in Rangpur for building an international standard, modern, eco-friendly, well- planned, traffic- jam free and beautiful city.

He said every city dweller, along with the people of the region, would definitely be benefited as the traffic-jam situation would improve significantly after completion of the ongoing massive infrastructural development works in the city in future.

After completion of the ongoing massive infrastructural development works, Rangpur will have modern communication networks, drainage systems and congenial environment with eye- catching looks as one of the most beautiful cities in the region, he said.

The Mayor also sought cooperation of the city dwellers and all concerned for smoothly conducting construction works of the infrastructures in a planned way ensuring the best quality works with maximum transparency and accountability.
